Today is the birth anniversary of two eminent personality's Gandhji and Lal bahadur shastri. I wrote long back on anger management and Ahimsa that Gandhi preached around the world.
In current political situation, people are especially expressing their views against Gandhiji. I am not here to press my views in favour of against it. But, we all human beings have our positives and negatives. No one is perfect, even the spiritual scriptures that we read says, God when appeared in his various incarnations had certain positives and negatives. So, be it Gandhi.. he might have his own negatives but he preached "Ahmisha" that goes back to all our granths, vedas , upanishads etc.
An eye for an eye makes the whole world go blind. With the many war like situation around the world, what do you think will bring back peace? Is it Russia against the west or is it Israel against Lebanon.. how will everything get over. Is it revenge that will restore peace?
In this current political situation, when I see my friends debating about Gandhi and Sashtri... Sometimes I have a sudden urge to ask them... Do you know Lal bahadur shastri was a fan and follower of Gandhiji? Do you know Lal bahadur shastri gave up his higher caste surname "Srivastava" and took up Sashtri based on his belief and thoughts that was influenced by Swami Vivekananda, Mahatma Gandhi and Annie Besant.
Maybe we know this, but we forget how they used to think and are so influenced by the social media forwards from particular party in favour of their vote bank. How good are they who negate the thoughts and beliefs of such good leaders and highlight their sort comings to gain power. Is it not greed?
Politics on the basis of religion, caste or regions is not something that will take us any forward. It has to have something that is truly for development of our country. We need to build a society that does less discrimination and is more acceptable of everyone.
Today is Mahalaya when we remember our ancestors, we are the successors of leaders like Gandhi and Sashtri. We need to learn and implement their thought process. Let's not just remember them but implement some of their qualities in our life too.
