Someone is proud of you

This young boy loved football, though he never played it. He lived with his father and never missed a single football match in his school. The father son duo had a special bondage. Even though the son never made to play football, his father kept inspiring him, cheering him and always made it to watch the football matches with him. The young boy was so fond of football that he decided to try his best at every practice session.

When this young boy went to high school, he decided to try even harder. He came to all the practice sessions and matches without any fail. Everyone was sure he could never make it to a cut,but he did. The coach admitted that he has put him on the list,as he puts his heart and soul to the game. Moreover, he provides every member with moral booster that they badly needed.

The news of surviving the cut was so thrilling that he rushed to the nearest phone and called his father. His father shared his excitement and made up to attend all the high school football matches. This young boy never played an actual match in his 4 yrs of high school. He practiced hard before the match commenced.Shortly, before the play off game, the coach met him with a telegram in his hand. The young boy read the telegram and became deathly silent. He showed the telegram to the coach and asked him politely if its OK for him to miss the match of the day. The coach put his arm around him and said,"Take the rest of the week off and don't even plan to come back to the game on Saturday."

In the final quarter of the game when the team was 10 points behind, a silent young boy entered the locker room. He put his football gear on and came down to the coach. The boy requested the coach to allow him to play. The coach at first didn't even notice him. He tried to best ignore the boy's request,as he feared losing the match. However, he finally gave up to the boys request and allowed him to play. Before, long the coach and other players could not believe their eyes,as this boy made his way to goal post. The opposing team could not stop him,as he ran, passed and tackled like a star. Soon, the game was tied and in closing few seconds, the boy hit the final goal that lead to victory. His teammates hoisted him to the shoulders, and such cheering that never before was heard.

After, the stands have been emptied, team had showered and left the locker room, the coach noticed the young boy sitting quietly at the corner. The coach came to him and said,"I am proud of you,you were fantastic." Tell me what got into you? How did you do it?" He looked at the coach, with tears in his eyes, and said, "Well, you knew my dad died, but did you know that my dad was blind?" The young man swallowed hard and forced a smile, "Dad came to all my games, but today was the first time he could see me play, and I wanted to show him I could do it!"

Is it black or white?

Suman looked at the pearl earrings and her eyes kept watching it for a while. She remembered in few seconds the year that just passed by. The year which started with a big bang for her and exploded and snatched away everything that she admired.

One year back she met Abhinav, the first sight of him  led a spark through her blood. She had turned completely red and unknowingly she blushed. Her marriage got fixed. They started spending more and more time over phone, trying to know each other. Without even realising when both fell in love.

The D Day was arriving and they had so many plans to mark the greatest day of their life. They decided where and how they will make it a wonderful life for themselves. She still remember each and every word that Abhinav told her on those days. His excitement, enthusiasm and trust on her had made a new Suman altogether. Her world revolved just around Abhinav.

She dreamt of ways to make her Abhinav feel the happiest man on earth. She dreamt of making new dishes and dressing exactly the way he wanted to see her. They both had created an Excel sheet of what all things they should do in order to make this day the most remarkable day of their life. She had decided what she will gift her new family members. Everyday had become a rehearsal stage for her. She kept on scripting and re scripting the dialogues in her mind everyday. The excitement in her knew no bounds. Love and affection had taken center stage.

She heard the phone ring, and started to shiver. Now,her gaze turned towards the phone. She left the call unanswered as it reminded her about the call that shattered her whole world. That day, she was excitedly waiting for Abhinav's call. It was already 10 PM ,so she picked up her mobile to call him. The voice on the other end said the number is not reachable. She kept trying whole night and wishing he calls back. In morning she was almost in tears when she could not reach him still. But, whom would she tell all this. Weird thoughts popped and it made her more uneasy. Still she tried to keep her eyes closed. A loud noise outside broke the silence of the room as she along with her siblings rushed outside. She could not believe when her Mom yelled back Abhinav is no more. She remained stunned like a statue for about few hours.

The next thing she remembered was a hospital bed, where she had been admitted for 10 days. She came back home, and everything seemed to her as colourless. She is the first widow without a marriage. She could not believe she is widow still. She could hear Abhinav and feel the same warmth of his words. She picked the half filled glass of water and saw the white box nearby. She opened the box to see the pearl earring inside.

Now,another thought came to her mind, is it colour white that is in her life or is it colour black  What would she do without her Abhinav around? She picked another white box and opened to see the white pearl bracelet that it contained. These were her gifts on her birthday that she received as courier from Abhinav.Suddenly,a voice came" You are my angel". It was Abhinav, she wanted to hear more.... but there was only silence.

Interpretation by small kids

Have you ever marked a small child giggling when thrown up in air?Have you marked young toddlers looking hear and there when they walk holding the hands of their parent?

Oneday a young girl was crossing a wooden bridge along with her Dad. The wooden bridge seemed to be weak,so the father was little scared,so he told his little girl," Sweetheart! hold my hands so that you dont fall into the river."
The little girl replied,"No Dad! You hold my hand."
"What's the difference?" asked the puzzled Dad.

"If I hold your hand there is a chance I will let your hand go when something happens to me"
"However,if you hold my hands,I know for sure no matter what happens you will never let me go."

This is trust of a small child, the essence of which is utter faith. Therefore,a small kid smiles when thrown up,because it knows for sure it will never be let go. Kids remain in their own tune as they know nothing will happen to them when their parent are there.

So, hold the hands of person who loves you rather than expecting them to hold yours.

Brick and Scorpio

One day, Mr Shyam a young and very successful executive was travelling in neighbourhood Delhi street. He was going a bit too fast in his black VLX Automatic mHawk Diesel Scorpio, which was only a couple of days old.

He was watching for kids and animals darting out and slowed down when he saw something. As his Scorpio passed no child darted out. He made his way to a lonely road so that he could explore his new Scorpio and its speed. When he reached a bit lonely residential area he increased his speed and enjoyed his drive along a near by garden. Suddenly, a brick smashed into the Scorpio's black shiny left door. Brakes slammed! Gears ground into reverse and tires madly spun the Scorpio back into the spot where the brick smashed onto it. Shyam jumped out of his Scorpio, grabbed the kid and pushed him against the Scorpio. He shouted at the kid,"What was that about and Who are you? What the heck are you doing?" He screamed,"That's my new Scorpio, and the brick that you threw gonna cost a huge sum.Why did you do that?"

The kid with a trembling voice pleaded," I am sorry, sir! Please listen to me first.... I am really sorry, but i was not knowing what else to do." Tears were dripping down the boy's cheek as he pointed out to the road side parked car. "He is my brother sir, he rolled along that small pit and fell out of his wheelchair and I can't lift him up." The boy then gathered enough courage and requested the executive," Could you please help me, to get him back on his wheelchair, he is too heavy for me and is also hurt."

Moved beyond words, the young executive rapidly swallow the lump in his throat. He then lifted the young man back onto his wheel chair and took out his handkerchief and wiped the cuts and bruises. He then kept watching, when the little young boy pushed his elder brother back towards their home.

It was then a long walk back onto his Black VLX Automatic mHawk Diesel Scorpio. Shyam never fixed the left door of his Black Scorpio in order to remind him that he should not move too fast in life, that someone needs to throw brick on him to get noticed.

Some bricks are softer and some are too hard, feel for each brick that comes your way. For every half empty glass,we have to remind our self that the glass is half full.

"Babuji ne kaha gaun ko chhod do,sab ne kaha paro ko chhod do, paro ne kaha sarab ko chhod do...aaj tumne kaha haweli ko chhod do, ek din aayga jab woh kahega duniya hi chhod do..."

I heard a lot of lines from all my good friends and family that says merely to STOP something or other. I heard all with patience and just could get a lot of lines that says me to STOP somewhere at some point. However, I merely wanted advice and suggestion about what to do that can make me overcome some of my weaknesses. But, never really got any suggestion about it that I should do. There was a long list of what not to do. All of them were very appropriate at times that could help me but not a single thing that I should start doing.

Hearing this long list, one day I thought to myself, is it that my actions and thoughts  led me in wrong direction always, that I got such a huge list of what not to do over what to do. It has been my bad habit, that I keep asking everyone around to tell me something bad about me,so that I could see my image  through their eye. At first everyone hesitate to share this negative side, however when given the same chance again and again making them comfortable enough to speak up, they point to me my mistakes, however small or big it was.

Many come up with their views especially one's that says what I should not do. However, nobody really happens to say what otherwise is best thing that I should attempt doing. When I analyse, its general tendency to suggest someone what they should not do. But, when it comes to what should be done, all remain mum.

When we all can identify so easily what is wrong, then why we lack in suggesting what is right? Do we lack confidence in sharing our views and perspective? Why we turn speechless when someone wants genuine advice of what to do? We simply answer that we do not have idea whats right, though we know whats wrong. My last question to all of you is if we STOP every action and thought where will it lead us?

I remember the famous dialogue of film DEVDAS most appropriate to this

"Babuji ne kaha gaun ko chhod do,sab ne kaha paro ko chhod do, paro ne kaha sarab ko chhod do...
aaj tumne kaha haweli ko chhod do, ek din aayga jab woh kahega duniya hi chhod do..."

"Bande Utkal Janani"

Today, on the eve of Utkal Divas,I wish all of you a very Happy Odisha Formation Day or Utkal Divas. Along with the beginning of another financial year for India, Odisha celebrates its 75th Utkal Divas. I am just going to write few interesting facts about Odisha and its formation.

* Odisha lost its identity for more than 350 years (from 1568 with demise of last Hindu ruler King Mukund Dev).
* With due efforts from the sons of Odisha, it gained its freedom and independence as a separate state to improve the socio-economic condition of people of Odisha and to stand apart with its own culture, language and heritage. This movement went on for many years and on 1st April 1936 finally Orissa was declared independent state on the grounds of linguistic difference.
* At the time of division it was named Orissa with 6 different districts namely Cuttack,Balasore,Sambalpur, Koraput,Puri and Ganjam.

However, though the day April first has bigger picture of being the starting day of financial year and also the Utkal Divas, we forget these and celebrate the fool's day with much more enthusiasm.
