Smaranika !!

 While talking today,

We completely relived our college days.

From Laltendu Sir and his favorite, Smaranika,

To Subhranshu Sir and his favorite, Archana,

To Mrityunjay Sir and his favorite, Monalisa...

Me? I was never a favorite of any lecturer.

How tragic!

Yet, think of the countless times I went with Smaranika to meet Kalia Sir.

I would be the one doing all the talking,

While she just stood there, quiet and smiling.

Little did I know a beautiful secret lived in that silence.

It was only after college that she called to tell me about them.

Against the odds, love had won.

After that, every time I called her, I’d talk to Sir, too.

The day they had Kirti, Sir called me straight from the hospital.

Little did I know it would end so incredibly soon.

Sir was about to become the principal of our college,

But that very week, he was diagnosed with cancer.

Just like that, he was gone.

I can still hear her tear-filled voice on the phone:

"Look, I got everything so soon, and it's over so soon."

Life teaches us heavy lessons.

Sometimes through a pain so deep,

You are forced to discover a strength you didn't know you had.

I really hope to meet her and Kirti soon.

My plans rarely seem to work out,

But I'm just hoping against hope that this one does.
